I've learned not to open doors in the dark, because that's when scorpions crawl in, and when you finally catch them it's because they've just stung you all over and you're so angry you smash them all outright with a hammer and consider it done. I've learned that when a roach has made its home in your lettuce, you toss the whole thing over the fence and be done with it. But most of all, I've learned that you'll find the prettiest fish at the bottom of the lake and I've learned not to stop under falling leaves, because they have nothing to offer except a dry cracking sound when you tread on them.
